HIV/AIDS Prevalence

Awareness-ness Generation:
Building awareness among the rural poor on aspects having impact on their lives and surroundings by organizing awareness camps and follow up action  on issues relating to their status, rights and problems, conscientise community at large regarding various issues are being taken by TAPASYA.

Organization of the Community:
TAPASYA believes in development through Clustered and Peoples Participatory Approach hence organizes meetings of the stakeholders and prospective beneficiaries to organize themselves in the form of Self-Help Groups / Village Development Communities / Village Forest Protection Communities & etc. TAPASYA imparts knowledge for sustaining the communities / groups under the existing provisions of forest protection acts, apex rural development bank, government departments for their welfare and development.

Education:
TAPASYA adopts education programme that includes, Non-Formal Education, Adult Education mainstreaming of dropout and failed in to formal system of education and help them pass out different levels of school, Experimental & Innovative Education for elementary age-group children & Computer Education for the unemployed youth between age group of 18-35, while boarding & hostel facilities for girl students, educational complex in low literacy pockets along with action programmes for the benefit of child labor & women labor are being taken up by the society.

Entrepreneurial Skill development:
With a view to enhance income and economic standard of living of the rural poor youth groups/ artisans, Entrepreneurial Skill Development Programme are being taken up by the organization through organizing various training programme on income generating activities.

To promote of Indian Handicrafts by organizing artisans clusters into professionally managed and self-reliant community enterprises on the principles of effective participation and mutual cooperation. Organization organizes artisans into Self Help Groups / Active Entrepreneurs/Upgrade their skills to be able to produce value added items so that,  culminating into cooperative societies to enable them to take up economic ventures, easy access to domestic and overseas markets and improved quality and productivity could be done.

Environment and Ecology;
To bring a sustainable development programme & management, emphasis is given on ecological balance, environmental preservation keeping the Man’s Health, Sanitation, Education, and Training & Rehabilitation in view while weaker sections of the people specially residing in hilly areas and remote rural areas are being looked into.

Science and Technology:
TAPASYA is looking after the development being itself involved in research, design, adaptation and application of innovative Science & Technology for rural development in association with Scientists and Technologists by applying their expertise to finding solutions for problems in the rural areas.

Health and Sanitation:
TAPASYA is on firm opinion that the working people can not discharge their duties or contribute in the process of development programmes unless they are physically fit.  Keeping in view (the prospective beneficiaries) healthy, and to prevent, protect and rehabilitate drug dependent persons who require psycho-social and medical care to be mainstreamed into the normal course of life, dissemination of information on ill effects of drug, by making aware and educating the individual and family and the society at large on alcoholism and drug abuse and motivate and build their capacity to fight this growing problem, project are being taken by the society.

Immediate cause of concern under Reproductive Child Health, keeping the gender inequalities and access to health services variedly affect demographic scenario, certain socio-cultural, educational and economic factors are considered to be responsible for higher rates of mortality and morbidity in the society, activities that are maternal mortality, infant mortality and child mortality rate are being taken by the organization.

Culture:
With a view to promote, protect and preserve the cultural heritage, TAPASYA takes the activities to research/study on all aspects of cultural heritage and doing collection/documentation of cultural artifacts, including performing art along with dissemination of art and culture, training in traditional and folk art and setting up of museums or libraries etc.

Youth and Sports
In order to achieve economic self-reliance, fulfill intellectual urges, aspirations and thus engage in the task of nation building multi-level intervention for development and effective utilization of youth from rural, urban and tribal areas, TAPASYA takes activities for establishing vocational training that enable youth act as focal point of dissemination of knowledge in own areas of activity; function as productive citizens, prevent migration and acquire skills. Also it equips with skills to design, plan and take up micro-enterprises viable in local conditions etc.

Housing:
Keeping the women and girls having no visible social support system on account of various reasons such as those being forced into prostitution, made to leave their homes as a result of family discord or facing litigation for marital disputes, victims of sexual assault facing problems of readjustment in the family and victims of social, mental and emotional maladjustment, TAPASYA plans for temporary shelter and support to women / girl victims of family problems, mental strain, social ostracism, exploitation and other factors leading threat to their safe and respectable survival.

Also, housing and development of infrastructure projects in the slums areas while houses at affordable costs for slum dwellers / urban poor are being provided in an integrated manner of slums through providing shelter, basic services and other related civic amenities with a view to provide utilities to the urban poor.

To empower and improve the quality of life of older persons, keeping in view diverse necessities of the older persons such as concern of the family; healthy inter-generation relationship, equipping to face the old age, productive aging, shelter and health needs etc, the TAPASYA takes the programme that includes Day Care Centre, Old Age HOME, Mobile Medicare Unit and Non-Institutional Services for Older Persons.

Training and Infrastructure
TAPASYA plans for training and income generation/employment in trades such as agriculture, mushroom cultivation, poultry, piggery, floriculture, social forestry, wasteland development, handloom fishery etc, keeping in view the promotion of autonomy and economic self-reliance of women by imparting vocational skills, enabling women to acquire capacity to take up income generation activities in traditional sectors and provide them support service. Further, In order to promote overall development of Scheduled Tribes, TAPASYA takes the activity in the field of education, health & sanitation, environment, drinking water, legal redressal and programs targeting socio-economic upliftment of tribal population.

Child and Woman development:
Innovative projects are being taken that envisages to generate development impact on women and children by taking programmes in the poverty stricken areas, drought prone areas, famine affected areas and those reeling under the force of natural calamities are major source areas for recruitment of women and children for the purpose of commercial sexual exploitation.  On the one hand, these dire conditions force parents to sell their women and children knowingly and on the other, these circumstances make parents and their children more vulnerable to the false promises and allurements offered by recruiters and accompany them unknowingly.

To overcome the above problems, project in a source village is being taken to tackle the vulnerability of the community as well as of the girl child.  Community Empowerment would comprise of awareness generation and social alertness, poverty alleviation schemes, micro credit schemes through women’s groups and self help groups and involvement of Panchayat Raj Institutions, Girl Child Empowerment would cater to education and vocational training. 

Watershed Development:
In order to restore eco-system, uplift the socio-economic standard of poor people and wisely use of natural resource, TAPASYA address the issues of eco-development and environmental preservation in the rural areas and awakened the people about the high need of watershed development not only for conserving environment but to raise income that includes watershed development, afforestation and tree plantation activities to make all programme related to rural reconstruction sustainable.

Rehabilitation Centers
In order to address the needs of the persons with disabilities, especially in the rural settings, by promoting collective efforts of the disabled persons, family, community and collaboration of health professionals, initiatives are being taken to enhance community participation to raise equal opportunities and status of the disabled towards mainstreaming them into larger society. The services are provided in the areas where rehabilitative services are seriously limited / absent.
